HUMSS stands for Humanities and Social Sciences, an academic strand in Senior High School that covers a range of topics all about society, behavior, culture, politics, and more.
HUMSS HAS A WIDE SELECTION OF CAREERS
Who says HUMSS can only ever produce lawyers, psychologists, or teachers? HUMSS offers a wide range of positions across industries. Whatever stereotype you may have heard, it's not true. Even professions like being a nurse, engineer, or CEO, while it is not the main focus of the strand, is still achievable through HUMSS. So what are you waiting for? Here are some examples:

RESEARCH SAYS...
According to Padios et al. (2021), HUMSS strands are among the SHS academic tracks that are more likely to be pursued higher.
According to Redolosa et al. (2020), HUMSS is the key to self-confidence, interaction skills, public speaking skills, critical thinking skills, and research capabilities.
It is expected that all humanities graduates have a deep self-perception toward employability. they are more likely to be prepared with the skills required for a specific career (Niate et al, 2021).
PUBLIC SPEAKING
Students participate in debates, discussions, and presentations that hone their ability to express ideas articulately in front of an audience. Public speaking, debate, and persuasive argumentation are key aspects of the strand.
Social Awareness
HUMSS students learn to appreciate and understand different cultures, societal norms, and histories. This broadens their worldview and makes them more adept at engaging with diverse populations.
Research Literacy
HUMSS students are trained in qualitative and quantitative research methods, learning how to conduct surveys, interviews, and focus groups.
Laws and Rights
HUMSS students studying political science and law-related subjects gain a fundamental understanding of laws, rights, and responsibilities. This is useful for those pursuing careers in law, governance, or public service.
